You're right...employers I've talked to are constantly complaining about their new hires' inability to think creativity or to be flexible when it comes to learning new material or learning on the job. I really think that's what the humanities taught me to do, and why I was able to work in so many different fields before I ended up becoming a professor. We have to realize that college isn't just preparing you for a single job: it;s preparing you for MANY possible jobs and careers, since few people work at the same job from 20 to 65. And let's face it, there's more to learn in life than just how to work. We need to know how to live and be ethical human beings as well.
