Thank you for reading! I definitely agree: we need structure, and having a groundwork in classical theory and technique is so useful...but it can't be the only way to see the world, either. In fact, it's actually the means to see new possibilities by mastering the old and understanding why people developed those theories and techniques in the first place. In the end, anything that is expressive, creative, challenging, and useful to someone moves art forward. The old negative art is propaganda that is meant to diminish or attack. Art is big enough to encompass everything else, even if we can't always appreciate it. Keep on fighting the good fight!
