I can see that, definitely. But a myth is a story that has power, and it shouldn't just have to 'act' like a myth. A myth uses an ancient vocabulary to tell old stories in a new way, and in a sense, there's no wrong story to tell. I think the strength of Star Wars is that now, you can write it allegorically/mythically or make it more literal--focus on the fantasy or the sci-fi elements, in other words. I wouldn't want to say what it could or couldn't do; it's up to the creators to simply make it believable as a work of art (which is a different argument!).
